The running mate of US Republican presidential candidate John McCain has been found guilty of an abuse of power, according to a state legislature probe.
"I find that Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.110 (a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act," investigator Steve Branchflower concluded in the panel's 263-page report.

Why is this getting little to no news coverage? The results of the investigation were released on the 10th, and I'm just now finding out about it. Meanwhile, the front page of Newsvine is flooded by meaningless "political" drivel and typical op-ed, ad-hominem bull@!$%#. "McCain campaign is spewing hatred!" "McCain gets booed for calling Obama a decent guy!" "McCain's still hammering the flimsy Ayers 'connections'!"
Who the hell cares? Sarah Palin has just been found guilty by her own state's legislature of a major abuse of authority, and no one is talking about this?
EDIT: As always, discussion is to be kept on-topic, I'll be deleting any comments from either side of the fence which don't contribute anything meaningful to the discussion (i.e., generalized, non-specific anti-McCain comments which don't addressing this specific news story are getting deleted), and of course I'll be moderating according to the CoH.

Heh. Well, you should have been here yesterday. There must have been a dozen seeds or more, three from CNN alone, I think. There were two front-page AP stories battling it out. Here are a few from my voting history:
- Nixonian: GOP-dominated Alaska panel charges Palin with abuse of power
- October Surprise! McCain Is Forced to Confront Open Bigotry Against Obama While 'Troopergate' Scandal Drags Down Palin
- Alaska Inquiry Concludes Palin Abused Powers
- Breaking: Palin abused power in trooper case -!!
- Breaking: Ethics report: Palin abused authority
- [Palin Abuse of Power] The Branchflower Report
It should also be big business on the Sunday mornings shows. I think the reason most of them fell off so quickly is because the attention was divided between so many seeds.

Ah, okay, I feel a bit better, then. Yesterday was my birthday, which meant that I spent most of the day drunk and/or stoned and definitely not on Newsvine. I'm still a little disappointed that they dropped off so quickly in favor of all the fluff/filler pieces on the homepage now, but I guess that's the way the cookie crumbles. At least the news has reached the public.

Happy birthday! Perfectly understandable. Mine is next week.
Like I said, never fear, it should be all the rage on the Sunday shows. Hopefully the media will pick up on Palin's blatant lie about the report from yesterday:
She asserted that the probe proved she did nothing illegal or unethical despite its finding, released late Friday, that she abused her power in pushing for the firing of an Alaska State trooper who was once married to her sister.
"I don't micro-manage my commissioners and ask them to hire or fire anyone," Palin told reporters outside a service station in Altoona, Pa. "And thankfully the truth was revealed there in that report that showed there was no unlawful or unethical activity on my part."
Can you believe the set on this woman?

I think John McCain should cut his loses and drop Sarah Palin from the ticket. I am an Obama supporter and hope he leaves her on. She does nothing for McCain in the next three weeks but drag him further down. Sitting around the Sunday table with all my family, it was decided that McCain will not get rid of her because that would show he had poor judgement in choosing her in th first place. McCain is in a bad place right now and probably does not see the light at the end of the tunnel.
